I’ve heard about it for years, but never needed to know what the acronym stood for… until now. Betsy Jeff-Penn is a camp in central North Carolina for kids to learn team building. And MSR has been sending Upper Elementary students for quite a while. Today, Jackson left on a bus for his first multi-night school trip to BJP. He has been so excited about this trip. It is a sort of rite of passage. I spent most of the morning in an admin meeting. Walked the dog. Back to work. Then home by 5. Looking for dinner now.

Fall Football

The weather was perfect for the start of Fall football. Blue skies and cool. Reminded me of being a kid all excited about football and getting up on Saturday morning to go play in the yard until the games came on. The smell of newly mowed grass, a crispness to the breeze and the anticipation of the sport. JW and I walked Billy early. I went to have Dana’s car inspected. Talk to Pappy. Picked up breakfast. Chilled around the house. JW swam at Conner’s. Ate lunch. Took Billy to play with his girl friend. JW swam at Linda’s. Picked up Chargrill for dinner. Watched football until late.

Under the Weather

Dana and I both went to the doctor yesterday. What a sickly pair. After swallowing razor blades all night Monday, I wasn’t going to wait around to see how bad it got. Sinus infection as usual. Tried to rest in the afternoon, but many things called for my attention. JW and I went to the office supply store for pencil cushions. Walk the dog. Bath the boy. Get to bed.

Last Day of Summer

Even though I never really had a summer vacation, this feels like my last day of summer. Tomorrow is the day that all staff are back and families show up for a meet and greet. Tuesday will be the first day of classes for some students. So I tried to sleep as late as I could this morning and that was 7:30. You know how you don’t want to waste the day away, so I got up and made coffee. Took Billy for his first walk of the day and did some work on my computer. Did some cleaning around the house and then went to the grocery store. After lunch, Billy and I ran an errand to the school to put away some indoor/outdoor carpeting. More work around the house. Made some dinner. Another walk where we ran into Billy’s friend Bonnie (and she’s gotten big). They played until they dropped. Back home and rushing to get a last few things done before going to bed. We miss Mae Mae and JW!

Billy and Me

Billy woke up early. 6:30 to be exact. After a quick walk, I went to the store to get some half and half. The day was spent do odds and ends around the house and garage. I took Billy for a long walk before noon. After a shower I went to eat lunch at El Rodeo. More work around the house. Billy and I went to visit his girlfriend Kerry. A quick dinner and then another long walk for Billy. A little computer work and time for bed.

Rotator Cuff

Coffee on the screen porch. It was a little cooler which was nice. Did some yard work — agitated my already hurting rotator cuff injury. Aaaarrrgghhh! It makes me mad, because I feel like I need to lay off of working out now. Anyway… Pappy came back from cuzzin’ Bill’s. We ran errands. JW played with Matthew and Nick. I cooked chili.

Floating Thru a Saturday

Jackson had me up early to hang out with him. I wanted to get several things completed from my to do list and struck out with good intentions, but was tripped up along the way and ended up adrift on a sea of what to do now. We ended the day having Aidan Barry over for a sleepover and eating some good ice cream from a place called Fresh.

Friday the 13th

Off to work early. Made some headway on the website. JW came to school around 10am. After a trip to Target and home we came back to school and stayed until almost 4pm. We went to swim at Linda’s and JW was set to spend the night with her grandson. Dana and I went to eat at Winston’s and then I went back to school and worked until 10pm. JW called and said he didn’t feel good and came home.

First Admin Meeting of the Year

JW stay home with Dana while I went to work this morning. We had our first admin meeting of the year and it lasted 3 hours. Lots to do! Went home for lunch and to walk Billy. Then back to work. I was able to get several things done before it was time to go home. Back home we took Billy over to visit his girlfriend Cary. JW swam in Linda’s pool. Dana came home and took JW to see a movie for getting his book read.
